Terms of Use
By using SumCrafter you agree to these terms. They are short, and written to be read. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
What SumCrafter is
SumCrafter is a free collection of financial calculators and plain-English explainers. Every calculation runs in your own browser. There are no accounts, no uploads, and no personal data sent to our servers when you use a tool. You can use the calculators as often as you like, for personal planning, education, or research.
What SumCrafter is not
The calculators are educational tools. They are not financial, tax, investment, or legal advice, and using them does not create any kind of advisory relationship between you and SumCrafter.
Every tool is a simplified model of a real situation. Real life includes taxes, fees, penalties, rate changes, and timing details that a browser calculator cannot fully model. A result here is a good starting estimate, never a guarantee. Before you make a significant money decision, retirement, a mortgage, a tax filing, anything you cannot easily reverse, verify the numbers with a qualified professional.
Your responsibility
You are responsible for the inputs you enter and for any decision you make based on the output. Check your numbers before you trust the result: a mistyped zero changes everything downstream. Tax figures change every year, so always confirm the tax year shown on a paycheck calculator matches the year you care about.
If a result looks wrong, tell us and we will investigate. We fix calculation bugs fast, and our methodology page explains exactly how each family of calculators works so you can verify the math yourself. Report an issue with the tool name, your inputs, and what you expected, and we can usually trace it the same day.
Acceptable use
Use the site as it is offered. Please do not:
- Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the site or its hosting.
- Republish the calculators or site design as your own product, or imply an affiliation with SumCrafter that does not exist.
- Use automated tools to scrape the site at a rate that affects other visitors.
Linking to any page is welcome. So is quoting short excerpts of our guides with a link back.
Intellectual property
The site's text, design, logo, and code are owned by SumCrafter unless stated otherwise. The mathematics is a different story: formulas are public knowledge, and we deliberately publish them on every calculator page so anyone can reproduce our results. You may use the formulas however you like, including in your own spreadsheets or tools. What you may not do is copy our articles, layout, or branding wholesale and present them as your own work.
Third-party links
Some pages link to outside sources, such as tax authorities or research we cite. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse everything on them, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
Limitation of liability
The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SumCrafter is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the calculators or guides, including decisions made in reliance on a result. If a tool produces an obviously wrong output, the safest course is to stop, check the inputs, and let us know.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the site changes. The current version always lives on this page, with the date below. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new version.
